Back after a hiatus

I'm back! I bet you'd all thought I'd given up - far from it!

A couple of things in my uber busy life have take president over the blogging for a while but I've been keeping up the weight loss (on and off).

I've just finished the C9 cleanse program and have lost 3 inches off my waist in 9 days. It was very hard going but I wold recommend it to anyone who is seriously wishing to kick off a weight loss journey.

As of yesterday, I'm on the the Slimfast 3-2-1 program and am rearing to go.

Skinny me by graduation? Why on earth not?!

First week down

After a very busy, stressful week at work I am pleased to say that I have lost 3.3 lbs this week! I think it's a good start and (hopefully) I can continue at that pace. I'm aiming to lose 10 lbs by the end of January and at the moment that seems obtainable.

I'm a having some problems with an old injury so I'm taking a few days off Yoga (but will be back with determination on Monday) but have still been taking to walking and it seems to be paying off! I'm trying to find some other ways to exercise so it doesn't get repetitive. As of yet I have no ideas but we'll wait and see. I really miss dancing.

In hopes of continuing on the right path, I'm going to try and sleep more, drink more water and (gasp!) drink less.

And now onwards and downwards - 5% closer to my goal!

Health and Fitness (Baby Steps)

Today has been a day of knuckling down and getting on with things and I'm quite proud of myself for hitting a few of my mini targets.

I've been taking part in YWA's '30 Days of Yoya' and I'm actually sticking to it (yes - I know it's only day 3 but shh!)

I'm actually starting to get it now! I still is a bit of a (pleasant) stretch but I can actually do downward facing dog without shaking uncontrollably - celebrate the little things! Seriously though, Yoga is something I've always wanted to try and this has made me find time for it. I come of sessions sweaty, a little ache-y (a feeling I have missed since I've stopped dancing regularly) and feeling a little bit better about myself as a person. I am a complete newbie so sometimes it is way too hard and a little intimidating but I cannot wait to continue and being able to do more of this.

Adriene's videos are easy to follow, fun and easily accessible so I would urge you to go out and give it try!  Most of all I love the feeling at the end, complete relaxation and a sense of achievement. I now understand what I've been missing out on.

I'm also on the 3rd day of the '30 Day Plank Challenge' and can now plank for 30 seconds while shaking and cursing a lot inside my head. Considering I used to be able to do this for a minute and 3 seconds it's a bit depressing but definitely a step in the right direction. I'm hoping to get into another challenge when I'm little fitter (read, in about 2 weeks) but as yet I don't know what.

2 unrelated points: 1) I managed to stay within my ProPoints allowance and eat chinese takeaway! 2) I really miss dancing and need to find a few classes now I'm settled into placement.

Until next time!

A good start

And so the serious work begins and as I'm writing this quite ache-y I think I've managed it quite well.

The day didn't start too well, I've put on a load of weight over winter and I was sent home from work due to lack of actual work to do (joys of no voice and zero hours contracts) but it got me up and about  so I can't complain too much. I finally went to the doctors and plans have been put into place so I can finally start getting healthy as well as more active. (Although a few more trips to the doctors and perhaps hospital might be needed).

On the French front I'm starting small after taking a few online tests and learning my A language skills have not lasted the 4 years since I was last in the French classroom. So, I've found a cute little app called Duolingo to walk me through the basics (I can't remember my masculine and feminine verbs...) and we'll see where it goes from there.

On the weight loss and fitness front I have been on fire today! I'm 3 points under and have tracked 4 extra activity points! Hopefully I'll bake able to shift some of the pudge quite quickly. I'm loving the yoga but I'm a lot more stiff than I was before, I think a bit more stretching might be in order. I've decided to go for the '30 day plank challenge' also and manage to do the first day fairly comfortably. With the unexpected walk back from the station, the multiple trips to the doctors and the pharmacists, I've managed to walk for about half an hour.

I'm dead proud of myself. Now to see how I'm feeling tomorrow morning. Until then!

And so it begins...

So I didn't wake up hungover! A massive positive to start the new year! I haven't moved from the sofa today so I haven't got very far with the whole getting active thing but I do have a few plans to make my many targets more manageable.

My first weigh in shall be tomorrow and I will be hitting the ground running in time for July. I will be taking up tap classes again and will be doing '30 Days of Yoga' to try and get my non existant flexibility back. I'm hoping to take up running but will have to wait for my ankle injury to recover. The problem I may have is fitting it all in as I spend about 3 hours of my day commuting to placement.

I haven't really considered how I'm going to re-learn French yet so we'll have to wait and see...

Until next time!

I'm fast becoming a cliché...

I've decided to write a list of (hopefully) achievable goals for the year in the hope that it means I might actually stick to them:
  • Lose weight in time for my birthday (summer)
  • Fit into a Kate Spade dress by Graduation
  • Get fit again - actually use my running shoes and get back to dancing
  • Pull up my overall grade by a entire degree classification
  • Learn to cook
  • Re-learn French
Quite a few of these seem fairly daunting and have been goals for a long time but I'm going to be 21 in 2015 so it is time for me to act more like the responsible adult I'm supposed to be (yikes!). I have a few short term plans to help get some plans into motion. I will be starting my year in industry dissertation tomorrow, and have re-suscribed to Weight Watchers with the plan to start exercising again once the New Year's hangover has worn off...

Without turning into a giant idiot it's time to make this year count and actually achieve some of my goals. 2015, watch out a new, improved me will be heading your way!
